IntelliDAR™ Allows Airports to Deploy Remote Monitoring Functionality
AMSTERDAM, NETHERLANDS – March 9, 2010 - ATC Global Stand H716. Searidge Technologies, provider of intelligent video solutions to air navigation service providers (ANSPs) and airports, announced the availability of its intelligent video platform IntelliDAR™ for remote monitoring of airport surface management operations.
As airports look for ways to increase efficiency and reduce costs, the use of intelligent video to enable remote monitoring offers them a host of alternative surface management options. Currently, controllers located at airport towers provide air traffic control (ATC) services for aircraft on the airport surface primarily by visual means (i.e., looking out the window). There are many cases where an out-the-window view is not possible or practical; new construction, runway extensions, tower blind spots and contingency operations. Each of these scenarios could benefit from the remote monitoring capabilities offered by IntelliDAR.
The Searidge IntelliDAR Remote Monitoring solution supports remote tower operations by providing enhanced situational awareness to air traffic controllers. The system delivers real-time ATC-grade video for visual confirmation of targets, radar-like coverage of all non-cooperative targets and an out-the-window view by using video from cameras deployed parallel to each other and “stitching” them together to provide a single panoramic view of an area. Intelligent video helps controllers to effectively manage ground traffic with a high degree of confidence. Remote apron management is one example of how the technology can be applied. IntelliDAR™ is a Non-Cooperative Surveillance System (NCSS) that detects and tracks all targets on an airport surface. The system processes video from a series of video camera sensors networked together to provide a real-time geospatial positioning of all targets in a given area, delivered to controllers via a situational display. “This offering is a result of extensive collaboration with leading Tier 1 ANSPs around the world.
