ASDE-X & A-SMGCS Augmentation
Compliments an existing surface movement radar or MLAT system to provide a cost effective, real-time view of blind spots, coverage gaps, and hot spots.
Challenges/Solution
Complex systems such as ASDE-X and A-SMGCS are prone to have coverage gaps due to inherent technical shortcomings. Surface radar relies on line-of-sight to 'see' aircraft and vehicles, such that it cannot identify and track these targets if its view is obstructed, for example, by a newly built hangar. Additionally, transponder based systems depend on vehicles to be equipped with hardware in order to detect and report their positions. This can result in an incomplete view of the airport surface, and deploying additional towers or antennas to fill in the gaps can be cost prohibitive.
IntelliDAR™ Intelligent Video Platform – Simulated ASDE-X and A-SMGCS data
The Searidge intelligent-video platform, IntelliDAR, is a robust, Non-Cooperative Surveillance System that provides detection, positioning, classification and tracking of all targets on an airport surface.
The system outputs surface movement reports in ASTERIX (industry standard) format for seamless integration with existing systems. Detection and tracking data can be displayed on a stand-alone Human Machine Interface (HMI), or fused with ASDE-X and A-SMGCS via a fusion processor to effectively fill in the blind areas, or gaps, and help to realize the full potential of the Air Navigation Service Provider (ANSP) and/or airport's investment.
